Addressing the Media’s Negative Images of Dads

Fathers have gotten a bad rap in the media. If we’re not being portrayed as incompetent buffoons, we’re being pigeonholed as absent, work-a-holics. While some dads may fit these stereotypes, they don’t represent everyone. Most of the dads that I know are caring, attentive fathers who strive to be good parents. Our society needs to see more of these types of men. Fatherhood is a noble undertaking and the men who are committed to doing it well deserve respect rather than ridicule.

In this video, from Kids in the House, I discuss some of the negative portrayals of dads and offer some ideas on how fathers can be shown in a positive light.
