I have always been a Hot Wheels fan. In fact, I still collect Hot Wheels Vehicles, but I’ve narrowed my focus to classic muscle cars, exotic sports cars, and BMWs. I have several boxes of pristine cars in their original packages.

Although I’ve shared my hobby with my sons, they cannot understand why I have all of these perfectly good cars sitting around the house and no one is playing with them. None of their Hot Wheels cars have remained in the package for more than five minutes after purchase. They spend countless hours racing their cars and arguing about who has the coolest vehicles.

When I showed them the new Hot Wheels Video Racer, they couldn’t wait to get their hands on it. The car is essentially a video camera encased inside a 1:64 scale vehicle. My sons immediately started recording the car’s travels throughout our house. Here is some footage that the boys recorded:

Although the video is a little grainy and the sound quality is lacking, the car does a good job of capturing action. My sons had so much fun with the car, that they forgot the video camera was on and recorded at least 10 minutes of our family’s feet passing by (I’ll spare you that video).

But this car can record much more than feet and loop-de-loops. Video Racer comes with attachment accessories – straps, clips, brackets and adhesive strips – to affix the camera a snowboard helmet, skateboard, or bike and allows kids to capture and produce high quality videos of all of their adventures.

This real Hot Wheels can't wait to play with the new Video Racer

If your kids are Hot Wheels fans like mine are, they would love to have one of these new vehicles. They are available at Toys ‘R’ Us and other retailers for $59.99.

I’m also giving readers a chance to win one of these awesome Video Racers. To enter the contest, leave a comment answering the following question:

What would your kids record with the Video Racer?
