dinner with mom

I’ve written many times about the sacrifices my mother made for me when I was growing up. As a single mother raising two kids, my mom worked hard to provide for my sister and me. We never had much money, but my mother never used our financial state as an excuse. She made sure that my sister and I were able to participate in school events and experience educational opportunities even if it meant depriving herself of new clothing or going out to lunch with coworkers. She even rode the bus for many years because buying and maintaining a car was too expensive.

Now that my sister and I are grown and my mother is in a better financial state, she continues to make sacrifices for others and place her needs at the bottom of the list. It goes with out saying that she spoils her grandchildren, however, her desire to help others extends beyond our family. There are countless examples of her buying groceries for her neighbors, raising money for causes she’s passionate about, and volunteering with organizations to help senior citizens and children. Sometimes it’s as simple as being a shoulder to cry on (I’ve cried on that shoulder a few times). Other times she invests her personal resources to impact someone’s life. Her capacity to give amazes and inspires me.

To honor my mother and thank her for the sacrifices she makes, I decided to get her a special gift. My mother would never splurge on jewelry for herself. NEVER. That’s why I selected, not one, but two beautiful pieces that she will love.

I used the Sears app to search for items that would be meaningful to my mother. I found a lovely cross necklace and a “Mom” necklace. Taking advantage of the Sears Family and Friends sale along with some points and discounts from my Shop Your Way account, I was able to get both pieces of jewelry at an incredible price. I also used Free Store Pickup to avoid shipping fees since the store is close to my house.

If you’re looking for a gift to honor the special people in your life, Sears has a wide selection of gift options. The Sears app (Sears.com/mobile) make shopping easy and convenient.  To make your gift giving even easier, I’m giving away a $50 Sears gift card to one lucky reader.

To enter the giveaway, answer the following question in the comments section:
